Newborn First Week Favorites

January 2023 on the day after our second babe was born!

In March 2021, we brought our first baby home from the hospital. Despite feeling prepared with the baby shower, nursery organization, and baby classes, certain items made the transition much smoother.

During the ride home from the hospital, we were more comfortable with our favorite newborn car seat. Uppababy has just released a new, lighter car seat that we can't wait to try out, maybe with baby number three.

Our baby wore a new magnetic outfit from the brand Magnetic Me for the ride home, along with a cozy blanket. We love this brand for its gowns and onesies, and our one-year-old second son still wears them for easy nighttime dressing.

When I was pregnant, I received great advice to have plenty of comfortable places to put the baby down. Although I wish I could hold them all day, bathroom breaks are inevitable. We had a Snuggle Me, DockATot, Baby Bjorn, and 4moms swing, mostly hand-me-downs that we were thrilled to have to have hands-free when mama or dada needed a break.

When I did want to hold the baby, my absolute favorite outfit for a newborn that I bought the second time around was a skin-to-skin outfit. It made contact napping and skin-to-skin so wonderful for both of us.

When it came time for the baby to sleep in his bassinet, we used the little Hatch sound machine (now available in a portable version with fun colors) in a SwaddleMe Sleep sack. We used SwaddleMe and Halo Sleep sacks the most during the first few weeks.
